GOLCONDA MARINA.
THE GOLCONDA MARINA OFFERS RENTAL SLIPS, MINNOWS, TACKLE, SODA, ICE, GASOLINE AND FISHING LICENSES FOR ILLINOIS AND KENTUCKY. WE WOULD ASK THAT ALL TOURNMENT TEAMS PLEASE SUPPORT THE MARINA AS THEY HAVE BEEN STRONG SUPPORTERS OF OUR CLUB AND THIS TOURNAMENT.
FISHING THE SMITHLAND POOL.
Most of the crappie fishing is done in the creeks that feed into the Ohio River. These creeks will be timber filled with laydowns and washed in trees and brush. Navigation in the creeks can be hazardous especially if done above idle speed. While spring fishing is excellent on the Pool due to the uncertainty of water levels and flooding a fall tournament provides stable water levels and little chance of cancellation. Based on the winning weights at our club tournaments in the spring and fall it should take over nine pounds to win. Please note that the legal fishing area is between the John T. Myers Dam at mile 846 on the north-east and the Olmstead Dam at mile 965 on the south. You can fish the Cumberland and Tennesse rivers in Kentucky. You cannot lock through and fish Kentucky Lake. To fish the creeks and rivers on the Kentucky side of the you must have a Kentucky fishing license. Kentucky licenses are available at the Golconda Marina.
